I have noticed a big difference in my service in west Frederick. The few magazine subscriptions I still have now show up about 3 weeks late (I have had one issue not show up at all) and they now arrived in a more than acceptable damaged condition. I received an insurance notice from a doctor that they were no longer taking my insurance and, oh… the date this was taking place? Two weeks ago. That’s how delayed it was. Still waiting on a package coming from Columbus, OH that was ordered 14 days ago.

Basically, if it isn’t coming to me via “priority mail” it is not getting here any time soon. If there were any other options, this kind of customer service would certainly have me using someone else.

  2. Please consider these factors when conducting your audit:
    1. Price of fuel to truck the mail back and forth. Fuel prices have been increasing this year.
    2. Decline in real estate prices. Why sell the Frederick Plant now? If mail is declining, the Post Office should have considered reducing the Frederick Plant operating hours and leasing part of the building to a mailer. The Frederick Area appears to be growing and not shrinking.
    3. What price savings can be assessed for the disruption of our Frederick Plant’s employees lives. A quality of life issue is now in play. The daily congested commute to Baltimore and time spent each day commuting back and forth to work is hard on the employees and their families.

OIG Better check the Southeastern Mail Facility in Devon Pennsylvania being consolidated into the Philadelphia plant, rumors have it will take 42 hours a day to have the combined mail sorted each day !!!!! Only 24 in a day !!!!! Go Figures,, but district Gallagher/Kelly/Jordan/Campbell/Greonimos and Megan Brenan NO#2 Man think it will work on their planet!!!!

  4. The mail has sucked like never before since closing the Frederick facility. Not that it was really efficient in the 1st place, but now you are on par with the Soviet Union. Sacks of mail sitting everywhere. Why not allow some uninvited press photographers to come in and show how bad the facility is, or should we have employees smuggle out pictures to expose the mess you supposedly manage. Postal Union officials have done nothing except to protect themselves and not the workers. Postal workers will lose their jobs and union officials will still get their bonuses. In 50 years I have seen the price of postage rise to ridiculous amounts while the service has dropped considerably. I recently waited almost 3 months for a package to arrive.Even with delivery conformation, it sat in a bin un-scanned for months. Quit wasting money on studios that will only prove that yes, service has suffered. We will all start shipping UPS and Fedex, because we know that they can actually track & deliver as promised.

    • Quit wasting money on *STUDIES that will only prove that yes, service has suffered.

    • Eric, what are you talking about? 45 cents for a letter going across the country is ‘ridiculous’? UPS and FEDEX are much higher than the USPS. Stop trying to attack the unions and get your complaints to the people that take the money out of the postal service’s pocket = CONGRESS! Call your senator and complain.
